HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) have both launched structured investments in Brunei to local investors, according to local press reports.

SCB's head of priority banking, Irfan bin Haji Abdul Latif, presented a seminar at the Empire Hotel & Country Club explaining how commodity-linked and currency investments could offer better returns than interest rates.

"We continue to enhance our suite of investment products to provide more options to our customers and help them diversify their portfolio, while enabling them to seize opportunities even during challenging times," SCB's wealth management head, Eng Siok Tin, told local reporters.

Meanwhile, HSBC recently launched a new structured investment product at the Sheraton Utama Hotel: USD Switchable Note is a three-year, principal-protected note offering a choice of underlyings.
