Sales of equity-linked bonds (ELBs) in South Korea have subsided following a recent hike while equity-linked securities (ELS) remained relatively stable in the first quarter of 2022 compared with the prior quarter.

The sales volume of ELS dropped two percent to KRW9.4 trillion (US$7.5 billion) in Q1 22 quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), translating to a 38.6% decline year-on-year (YoY), according to the latest report from the Korea Securities Depository (KSD).   Meanwhile, 348 equity-linked bonds (ELBs) were sold at KRW2.7 trillion, which dipped 82.6% QoQ or 24.9% lower YoY.
