The Italian banking group reported its best ever quarter for commissions whilst dominating the domestic structured products market.
Intesa Sanpaolo has posted a net income of €1.5 billion (US$1.8 billion) for the first quarter of 2021 (Q1 2020: €1.1 billion). The group reported its best ever first quarter for commissions – up 8.9% from €2.1 billion in Q1 2020. Specifically, commissions on management, dealing and consultancy activities were up 12.6%, recording increases of 49.7% in dealing and placement of securities, and 10.5% in portfolio management.
