Australia follows regulators in Europe and North America by banning or limiting the issuance as well as distribution of binary options and CFDs.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has proposed to ban sales of binary options to retail clients and impose restrictions on sales of contracts for difference (CfDs). ‘We are concerned that consumers continue to suffer significant harm from trading these products,’ said ASIC Commissioner Cathie Armor ( pictured ). ‘We believe binary options provide no meaningful investment or economic use and have product characteristics similar to gambling products.&rs
