The first problem that independent financial advisers in South Africa face is a practical one, in that they need to find a product that is understandable to them and by the client, according to Stephen Katzenellenbogen, executive director at NFB Private Wealth Management, speaking on a buyside panel at SRP Africa at The Maslow in Johannesburg on November 3. "A lot of retail structured products are sold at face value and not necessarily with a grasp of what the risks are," said Katzenellenbogen.
