Two new indices have been launched today by Bangladesh's Dhaka Stock Exchange, both designed by S&P Dow Jones Indices.
The DSE Broad index and the DSE 30 index are being calculated and published by the Dhaka Stock Exchange, while the historical calculations for the two new gauges have been provided by S&P DJ.
The Broad index will serve as a performance benchmark for the Bangladesh equity market, while the 30 index will cover the largest and most liquid stocks on the Bangladesh market and has been built to serve as an underlying for tradable and investment products.
The construction of these two indices has been based on globally standardised index methodology, which provides consistency, transparency and liquidity. Each stock will be analysed for its market value and liquidity. An index committee will govern the maintenance of the index.
