The structured products team from Investec Capital Markets has extended the deadline for subscriptions to its latest equity-linked investment which is designed to meet the needs of longer-term investors seeking security given the current uncertainty facing equity markets.
East Asian Basket Limited is a capital-protected product denominated in AUD, offering South African investors exposure to a basket of indices comprising the Hang Seng, Hang Seng China Enterprise, Taiwan Stock Exchange Weighted Index, Kospi200 and Nikkei225. The basket is listed on the Bermuda Stock Exchange and its ordinary shares will be redeemed at a target termination date after five to six years, with the final maturity date to be set on inception. Investors are guaranteed at least 120% participation in the growth of the underlying basket of indices.

These raised as much as ZAR1.1 billion in 2011 and with continued demand for such products, the extension is designed to give local investors considering the outlook for 2012 the opportunity to gain exposure to a unique and diversified investment in Eastern markets," explained Japie Lubbe of Investec Capital Markets.
East Asian Basket Limited is open until 3 February. Minimum investment is A$10,000.
