South Africa’s structured products industry is likely to benefit from a multi-billion rand reallocation of pension fund money if the national treasury’s pension investment proposals are accepted by the government.The treasury has recommended dropping prescribed limits for investment in certain asset classes, such as structured products, in a discussion paper issued in December. The paper said the current guidelines had failed to guide retirement fund trustees on appropriate investment strategies
