Investec gears Top40 in South Africa

Investec is offering South African investors geared access to local stocks.

Top40 Geared Growth is a 3.5-year note offering 140% participation in the growth of the FTSE/JSE Africa Top40, subject to a maximum return of 63%. The product provides -20% soft protection.

"In the wake of global market volatilities, South African individual investors divested from equities and have been overweight in cash," said Japie Lubbe of Investec. "Investment products such as [this] offer clients efficient alternative investment opportunities."

The firm recently launched the International Titans Basket Limited (Titans), a 5.5-year principal protected product offering 129% of the rise in a basket of indices including the S&P500 and the DJ Global Titans 50. It raised over AUD60m.

The new product has a minimum investment of ZAR100,000 ($14,100).
