Capstone Global Markets has made two senior hires as it capitalises on its name change from Capstone Sales Advisors to Capstone Global Markets.

The firm has hired derivatives and structuring specialist Leonard Ellis as head of capital markets. Ellis is in charge of exploring complementary sales and trading capabilities including interest rates, commodities, convertible bonds, credit and foreign exchange brokerage. Before he joined Capstone, Ellis was head of equity derivatives for the Americas at Citigroup, where, for over eight years, he managed the equity derivatives sales, trading, structuring, market making and research platforms. In an earlier role at Bankers Trust, he managed equity derivatives trading and structuring for North America.

Timothy Freeman also joins as head of US equity derivatives sales after a 13-year career at Merrill Lynch, where his latest position was MD for equity derivative sales. Freeman manages a team of sales traders who specialise in volatility risk. The desk is still expanding.

"We are committed to continuing to grow all of our affiliated businesses," said Paul Britton, CEO and chief risk officer of Capstone Holdings Group. "Drastic changes in volatility have really brought our expertise to the fore, and the opportunity set is greater than ever."
