Skandia is highlighting the value of capital protection for its UK-issued Shield fund, which it said has risen to 86% of principal for new investments at today's price.
The Ucits-compliant fund, which uses a volatility-based portfolio insurance strategy run by Commerzbank, launched in November 2010 with a share price of 100p, offering a protected price of 80% of highest NAV. Since NAV rose as high as 106p the protected price is 85p. Following recent volatility, the fund's price was 98.5p as of 9 August.
"Market volatility always focuses the mind," said Skandia investment expert Graham Bentley in a statement.
The firm has also launched a new version of portfolio analysis tool U-Skan 2.0 in conjunction with Financial Express. However, it does not yet include structured products.
