Canada’s structured products market started the year with an increase in issuance compared with both the previous month and January 2016. Sales, however, were down, both month-on-month and year-on-year. Two-hundred and one products were added to the SRP Canada database in January. The new issuance included offerings from BMO Financial, CIBC, Desjardins, National Bank of Canada, RBC, Scotiabank and Toronto Dominion Bank. Equity-linked products with simple characteristics continued to dominate t
