David Campbell, former head of North Asia distribution at Barclays in Hong Kong, has been appointed interim head of distribution for the Asia Pacific region.

Campbell will lead distribution of financial products including structured solutions in the markets division to the bank's clients in the region. The appointment follows Barclays' move to merge the investor solutions, equity and funds structured markets distribution and some structured products sales groups into one equity and funds structured markets (EFS) sales team.

Campbell will take over from Patrick Kwan after his appointment as co-head of Asia Pacific investment banking alongside Reid Marsh who will relocate to Hong Kong to take up his new post. Andrew Jones, interim head of investment banking in Asia Pacific, will step down from that position to focus on his other role as co-chief executive of Barclays' business in the region.

Additionally, Samson Yip, former head of investor solutions for non-Japan Asia at Barclays in Hong Kong has been named head of North Asia distribution, reporting to Campbell.

Jeffrey Juan, who previously oversaw investor solutions sales to institutional clients for Asia excluding Japan, has been appointed head of EFS sales for the region, a new role that involves overseeing sales of all the bank's equity derivatives products in the region excluding Japan. Juan reports to Yasuhiro Ishibashi, head of EFS sales in Asia Pacific.

The re-organisation of the equity derivatives/structured products sales teams in Asia follows the departures of Philippe El-Asmar, the former head of distribution APAC, back in April, and Kevin Burke, the former global head of investor solutions and funds and advisory distribution at Barclays in London, who left the UK bank in October last year and has now joined Deutsche bank as head of institutional client group for Asia ex-Japan, Australia and New Zealand, in Singapore.

Barclays has changed most of its top Asia-Pacific banking management this year amid a global drive to shrink its investment bank.

A spokesman for Barclays confirmed the appointments.
