1What is an API?
An API (application-programming interface) is a web-based software application which allows clients to access our data in a controlled manner and integrate and interact with it using both standard independent software vendor and bespoke client applications and analytics.

2What is a private API access key and can I get one?
Access to the StructuredRetailProducts.com API is via a license to the SRP Ultrafeed. To ensure safe delivery and extraction of our data, a private API access key is assigned to a named user from the company that has purchased an API license. This named user will generally be the member of the IT/development team who will be placing the API calls/data requests and overseeing the technical implementation.

3Is the API secure?
API is fast becoming the industry standard for data vendors as it allows for safe and flexible data extraction, delivery and integration. It is also one of the most secure methods of data delivery. Unlike Excel data files, the feed of data is delivered directly into the client's in-house applications . this means no corrupted files and no risk of unauthorized data extraction or distribution (both from data vendor and client side). All requests to the StructuredretailProducts.com API are authenticated and require data to be requested using a secure API access key.

4Do I have to pay for the API?
Access to StructuredRetailProducts.com's API requires a licence to the SRP Ultrafeed. Contact us today to discuss API licence solutions and pricing.

5I'm not a web developer! Who sets up the API?
Although it is generally the client who establishes the data requirements (e.g. a monthly feed for all recent additions from France), the API data request/call is typically executed by the IT/development teams who will be familiar with the API infrastructure and technical processes. We provide dedicated reference and developer guides to facilitate the technical processes and API implementation from client-side.

6How long with the API setup and integration take?
It depends. From our end, setting up access to the API takes around 5 minutes (if all sufficient information has been supplied by the client). Setup time on the client's-side will depend on a variety of factors including IT/development resource availability and whether new tools will need to be developed to support the API and integrate data, or whether it is simply a case of customising exiting framework to work around the API.

7My company's IT team is not able to handle the setup process for the API. Can you help?
StructuredRetailProduct.com's API is built using REST full web service which works at the basic level using XML/JSON and HTTPS . standard, industry-wide technical frameworks which should be familiar to most IT/development departments. If your IT department is unable to carry out the setup process, StructuredRetailProducts.com can provide API setup services to clients at an additional cost.

8Is there a limit to the number of data queries/requests that an API license holder can carry out?
SRP Ultrafeed provides unlimited data calls/requests per month. Each data request/call allows for a maximum of 500 products to be returned - this is to prevent server overloads both on our side and the client' side. If your data query returns more than 500 products, you will have to place several calls via the API to retrieve the full data set.

9How many different attributes per product can be retrieved via each API data call/request?
To view the full list of product properties click here. Don't forget, you can then apply product filters to further refine your data queries.

10Can data from the StructuredRetailproducts.com API be used to build new products and services?
Once you have purchased access to our API via SRP Ultrafeed, you are essentially paying to license SRP's data. As such, you will be able to integrate the data to develop products or services for your own end benefit. 12How does the API handle confidential information contained within the database (volumes etc)?
In some instances product manufacturers will request that certain product properties are not made public. Similarly certain markets do not have publicly-available sales volume data. If your data query/call includes requests for data where a product or market property is not publicly available, these elements will be omitted from your data set, however all other relevant product and market properties will still be delivered as part of the data request.

14I need the data in excel format, can you deliver it with my API license?
Although we do not deliver data via Excel, CVS or Comma Delimited, with a licence to the SRP Ultrafeed, you have the flexibility of accessing the data on any standard independent software vendor (ie. MS Excel) in addition to bespoke client applications and analytics.
